My name is Bianca Cardenas and I'm your host of next gen leaders. I'm a business psychologist who works with the leadership development firm. This is something I'm extremely passionate about. I feel so grateful because I wake up energized to fulfill my mission every day which is to help employees trapped in dysfunctional work environments. Before delving into why I decided to start this podcast. But let me just tell you a little bit about my background. I grew up as a poor child that was very much sheltered by her mom. She always felt that I needed to go to college and become successful because that's what she didn't have the chance to do. So that's exactly what I did. I spent all of my day studying just to make sure that I got good grades. In the blink of an eye I feel like my whole life passed before my eyes. Somehow I'm here. I'm not exactly sure how I got here. But I'm grateful. It puts me in a unique position. Since I was very busy getting all the credentials. I never actually built the communication skills that I needed. I also spent a lot of my time studying everything it takes to be an effective leader I thought it would also be interesting to use this as a medium, as a way to share my insights.

Every single day I go on LinkedIn and so many people are trying to post how successful they are. I immediately start comparing myself. I almost feel guilty that I had to dedicate all my time to going through my PhD and finally get to where I am now. I feel bad sometimes because I wish I could've done more. But this type of thinking isn't productive. Comparing yourself to other people will always make you feel like you're not enough. And my hopes is to help you feel like you are enough. I want to share my progress and all the insights that I've learned to hopefully help you prevent those same mistakes that I made early in my career. Also want to give you some new things to think about and try to help you build those leadership skills that you need.

We're coming into a huge shift in the workplace right now. Baby boomers are retiring and there's going to be a new wave of leadership taking those executive level roles. What about the emerging leaders? It will teach them the skills that they need to survive. Because it's more than just technical skills. It's also those soft skills that no one likes to talk about.

I look forward to taking this journey with you. And then the next episode, I'll talk about authentic leadership. What is this style and how can you become more authentic in your leadership role? Whether it's at work or with your personal relationships. I look forward to speaking with you next time. And have an amazing day.

Bianca Cardenas

My name is Bianca Cardenas. I have my PhD in business psychology and work with a leadership development firm.
I have experience in executive assessment, development, selection, and coaching. This means that I work with businesses to identify and develop their best leaders. I also help them find the best talent for the most important roles.
Essentially, I understand what they’re looking for and what’s important to them; I can help you align yourself with what they’re looking for.
I absolutely love my job, but psychologists often don’t have much time to mentor emerging professionals. I spent countless hours teaching myself everything I could find to understand what makes an effective leader. I’m passionate about helping people grow, and I love learning, guiding others, and seeing them succeed.
My mission is simple: I want to provide the next generation of leaders with easy access to the best development guidance and resources available.
I’m excited to share everything I’ve learned so far with you, so you don’t have to go through the same effort I did. With the right support, I believe every leader can make a huge impact.
