The job market's fierce right now but what if I told you that you exactly what companies are looking for, so that way you can tailor your interview, highlighting those specific skills?

As a consultant, it's my job to help some of my clients find the exact match of what they're looking for, depending on the role

 what's up next gen leaders? My name is Bianca Cardenas and today we're going to go through the four traits that top companies are looking for in their candidates.

 So a huge part of my role involves selection. The first thing I have to do is meet with business leaders and ask, what exactly are you looking for? And how does this candidate align with that expectation? I always hear the same four things in every single call that I have with these leaders. They say, we're looking for someone who's sharp, creative, adaptable, and knows how to influence without authority.

 Let's go through each trait, starting with sharp. It actually means two things. One, can people quickly identify what's most important? Two, do they know the relationship between numbers? These leaders just don't accept things as they are. They dig deeper, ask questions, and try to understand the issue from a broad perspective.

To help you get better At this, take time to really learn the most important metrics for your department. This is completely dependent on the type of company you work with and the department that you are in.

But if you take the time to learn these metrics, then you can make decisions that align with the good of these metrics. You can also speak to them. To sound sharp, you need to know the business lingo. So learning the metrics is going to be step one.

  Let's talk about number two, creativity. Creative leaders just don't see things in black and white. They ask really good questions like, Have we done this before? Have we thought of this?

And they're always thinking of new ways of doing and trying things. If you don't know how to solve a problem, try getting with your team.

in brainstorming a potential solution. The more the better. Think of as many ideas as you can, create a list, and then go through each one of them with your team to determine whether or not it's possible .

Letting everyone share their thoughts inspires creativity and finding unique solutions to different things.

 We need someone who can adjust their approach in real-time. So that means they have to be adaptable. These leaders love change. They see it as exciting and something that's going to help them learn a new lesson.

They try different things and see which one is the best fit. They also are really good at watching how their actions affect other people, and if they're not getting the result they want, they tailor their approach in real-time.

One way that you can get better at this is to be asking for feedback. I know your little ego can't take it. But if you're willing to ask for feedback and actually listen to it, that shows that you're open, flexible, and can better meet the ongoing changes, which looks really good on you.

 Finally, influence without authority. What does that even mean? These leaders don't go around puffing their chest out and saying that, hey, I'm the manager.

Instead, they're more focused on getting to know the people that they work with. They try to understand their perspective and thinking of different ways to meet everyone's needs in their own unique way.

So by asking questions and trying to learn more about everyone that they work with, they create a space where everyone feels willing to share their ideas. which is really important if you want to create rapport across the organization. My best advice is to just get to know everyone you interact with.

Set one one-on-ones and ask them about their job. What they like about their job. And how your actions affect their job, so that way you can tailor if you need to.

 So companies are looking for leaders who are very sharp, dig deeper, they are willing to understand the broad implications of the issues. They also want leaders who are creative and think outside of the box. They think about different ways of thinking and doing things.

They also look for leaders who are adaptable. They are adaptable to change, and how they respond to other people. And finally,

building relationships across the organization is probably the most important skill you need to learn because the higher you climb, the more important this is going to be.
